Just erking back to an earlier absurb point
quote: Without intending to being cruel and nasty the main proponents for very short races didn't do that well at the Nationals.
Maybe the reason that some of use get demolished by the likes of Rob J and Carsten occasionally is that we are stuck running at the same classic orienteering speed.
When the chance comes to run in a short race many of us are unprepared for the quick changes and complex terrain encountered at high speed which is typical of short races. Short races often make the best use of our technical terrain and allow the best orienteers rather than best runner to display their talents.
Just have one short race please !
Anyway Bruce thanks for stimulating this debate, hopefully some of the ideas are incorporated into the Southern Series including the 1:15000 map scales. Its a pity the debate is limited to the male proportion of our elites. Surely the lasses are just as computer literate, or perhaps can think of better uses of their time.
Andrew.

I hear this is slightly wrong. Where are day 4 and 6?

Mark Lawson's Comments:
He is happy with the proposed above. Was astonished with the thought of every race being 105. Said he wouldn't object to one short O. He thought it would be a good idea. He does prefer Classics as a general rule. He thought that day one would be a good day for the short. On top of Alistair's reasons he mentioned that it would be a good way to start the carnival for those that have had a break from Orienteering and help let the people who haven't been to Nasby before adjust before being thrown into a Classic.
