I understand that the World Masters Games had negotiated the land access rights which basically cut us out from organising any parallel events.

Maybe also a health and safety and insurance issue in this PC world of ours.
What about a creative solution?
eg negotiate separate access and have 'separate' event where spectators can walk to another area (eg 1 to 2 km away) with low-key organisation.
eg tell Master's organiser's that there is a requirement for (a) media race(s) and let anyone enter.
Potentially losing about 250 competitors would mean that orienteering clubs may find it hard to break even.

I understand the Masters Games organisers have paid thousands for forest access and even more for the mapping, and have total control of these events. It is a real shame there can be no public races, but I get the impression a lot of effort has gone into trying to twist arms on this one.
It will be a great event, with big numbers, excellent maps, and well worth supporting.

I hope, clubs or ONZ will have access to the mapping for future use.
Oceania and the mid week events will be fun.

Oceania Long Distance is going to be very special, with more variety than most areas.
There is some of the most stunning native manuka, which is well grazed by deer, so quite runnable, and some really tricky areas.
This area is grunty for Woodhill, and has some slow sections, so 7 minutes per km for M21E, I think.

Is there any way that we can find out? Will I contact WMG? or aren't they even allowing Orienteering NZ this information
