Show Profile  runningbeast Posted: 5 September 2006, 12:38 AM
It's time to put fresh batteries in the head lamps with the first of the Lactic Turkey Night Bush Fun Runs this Wednesday night at 7pm.

This weeks event is at Cascades (northern Waitakere Ranges) and offers some amazing scenic running and a whole different perspective in the dark. You can pay to enter on the day but we'd like know if you're coming (for catering) so please complete the small on-line entry form...[here].

The event centre will be in the Cascades car park at the end of Falls Road, off Te Henga Road which is off the northern end of Scenic Drive. At the end of Falls Road is the Waitakere Golf Course and you drive through this to get to the event centre. Follow the Lactic Turkey signs from Scenic Drive. More details below.

The Lactic Turkey Night Bush Fun Run Series starts with the first event at Cascades, in the Northern part of the Waitakere Ranges on Wednesday night the 6th September 2006. This run, on the beautiful tracks of the Waitakere Ranges takes in all of the spectacular sights of this area including the majestic Kauri Trees, a large dam and even a tunnel to run through.

The second run of the series is based at Hunua Falls on the 20th September 2006 and the grand finale is based at the Arataki Visitors Centre (central Waitakere ranges) on 4th October 2006. All events will make use of the great track networks of the Auckland Regional Council parks.

The start will be at 7pm and each fun run will have an average duration of 60-75 minutes (the winning time will probably be around 45 minutes). Once you finish enjoy a nice warm sausage while you wait for the speedy prize giving. Prizes for first man and first woman with everyone getting the chance at a few spot prizes. Not bad for the low entry fee of $12.

You’ll need the usual gear, with the main essential being light – a headlamp or something similar.
