Begins today. Website www.arwc2006.com. Believe that night navigation is absent this year, but maybe there'll be some tricky mapwork in the caving...
7 out of 40 teams with kiwis:
Bjurfors
Merrell/Wigwam
Orion Health (Stu, Brent)
Port Nelson/Grizzly Tours
Buff Sweden
Golite/Timberland
Nike Powerblast (Aaron, Sara)

Is it just me or did Team Multitude Salomon take just over 2 hours to get to checkpoint 14 on an estimated 6 hr leg while the leaders took just under 5 hours.

Yeah its pretty bad, compared to the Primal quest and the WOC tracking systems...but better than the Southern Traverse!

Press release from Geoff Hunt ARWS Director August 16: Japanese watch Casio has become the official watch of the Adventure Racing World Series on the eve of the fourth Adventure Racing World Championships in Sweden.
Would that be the Lapp-split model then?

Top teams have finished the Orienteering section. The course setter said a national runner would take about 2 hours. Team Finland with a former top orienteer raced through it in 2:40, not bad half way through an Aventure race, Golite and Nike took about 3:10 starting and finishing around the same time. Biggest loosers were FJS that left first while other teams slept before it, that took 5:19 and are now down in 8th

Nike/Powerblast has won - contains kiwi Richard Ussher. Golite/T and Orion Health can't be far away from finishing, currently listed 4th/5th. Port Nelson has made it into the top 20 (19th).

The GPS tracking is shithouse but reading the times on the website, it looks like Orion must be nearing the finish.
In 5th place. Awesome.
