The Venla (women's relay) had 871 teams. the Jukola (men's) had 1361 teams. But what would've been really impressive to see would be the mass-start at 9am in the morning for all the teams who are far behind the leaders. This year there were apparently 2400 runners to go out on legs 3-7. Of those about 700 runners were to run the last (7th) leg. Apparently it was the single biggest mass-start in an o'race ever. This was mainly because the terrain was a bit hillier and tougher than usual so more teams were slower than usual.
(I missed this as I was out running in the forest at the time).
