Sprint Start Intervals

Show Profile  Martin Posted: 5 May 2006, 8:59 AM
The NZ Champs sprint started at 1min intervals, and now the superseries sprint is at 2min, and the NZOF has no reccomendation for sprints.

I'd say that a good interval would relate to the visibility over the initial part of the course. eg at nationals the starts should have been further apart because the first leg crossed the huge open riverbed a number of times. The first starter wouldn't have seen anyone, but others would have/could have.

What a crock, I've said it before, the point of the super series is to have hard, intense races for our elites and to try and promote the elite level orienteering.

This round will not do that with that start list.

Bizzare Womans Start Draw.

I think the start intervals should be 1 minute for sprints, it's long enough. When you think about it, you have to cane it to catch someone up a minute, or they have to make a reasonable mistake.

Good work RK, it was an interesting sprint on a top class map.

The sprint for JWOC this year will have 30 second starts. 141 woman and 176 men at 30 second intervals. Who said Orienteering wasn't a spectator sport?

if we did that here you'd blink and miss everyone.

how are they doing the qual race? surely not 3 people starting at once!

176 men and 141 Woman. at 30 second intervals. No qualifier. NZ will kick arse.

don't forget that spare flag

Any body got a NZ flag we can borrow for JWOC? Everything going to plan it will be used for the poduim when we have two racers at once. We can arrange to return it and even have it signed by team members or selected foriegners.

I've got the white NZ Orienteering flag if you want that Neil (it needs a wash).

Not again Rob C. You need to stop that cat of yours pissing everywhere.

Ha! I'd forgotten about that. It's just a little dirty from whoever used it last, that's all - if you want it, sing out.
