Super 14 and JWOC

Show Profile  Greg Posted: 20 February 2006, 3:48 AM
You can't have been watching the super 14, their skills need some major improvement

Yeah, I was only taking the piss and have to say hats off to HeadHoncho for his very generous contribution to the JWOC team. It could turn out to be quite a considerable donation and I will be following the results with interest.

"be following the results with interest"

Yes, he will be making quite a considerable interest rate if all goes to plan each week!

Show Profile  Dave Barr Posted: 20 February 2006, 8:21 AM
Except that interest in the context you are using refers to a return on a loan or deposit of money.

A return on betting would usually be classed a dividend, although this term is more appropriately applied to tote betting rather than fixed odds.

Consider yourself unpuned, unless someone of the ilk of James Brian Stewart cares to countermand my etymological endeavours by impugning the above explication of Simon's specious sequitur.

I wouldn't dream of it

Mr Barr,

Good to see you still drop by on occasion. You've got me wondering, what is the correct term to use for fixed odds?, as dividend is only appropriate on the pari-mutuel system as you point out.

So I've come up with: winnings, moulah, dolleros, foldies, readies

Unless you have a partner. Then it is: shopping, clothes, make-up, haircut, something for the kids, ...

I prefer the latin term "lucrum"

Weekends Take $0

Show Profile  addison Posted: 3 March 2006, 7:24 AM
$30 on the Reds @ 3.60
$20 on the Cats to cover the 14.5 handicap @ 2.08
$30 on the Sharks @ 4.70
$20 on the Cheetahs @ 2.76

Show Profile  addison Posted: 5 March 2006, 12:58 AM
Weekends take $55.20

260.50 + 79.80 + 55.20 = $395.50
395.50 - 350.00 = $45.50

Show Profile  Greg Posted: 15 March 2006, 3:26 PM
So Simon how much do you each owe Rob now??

Show Profile  addison Posted: 16 March 2006, 12:51 AM
$60 Highlanders to beat the Bulls @ 2.62
$20 Stormers to beat the Hurricanes @ 2.32
$20 Chiefs to beat the Crusaders @ 3.80

$0 take for weekend. Do your own maths Greg

"So this week's bets:

Definitely $40 on the Sharks to beat the Highlanders.
If I can get $2.20 on the Blues and $2.30 on the Cheetahs that's where the other $60 will go ($30 each)"

Bad news I didn't get on the Blues. Good news is I got on the Cheetahs.

40 x 3.35 and 30 x 2.30 = 203

JWOC fund up to $598.50 from $520 bet ($80 not yet used)

Show Profile  HeadHoncho Posted: 31 March 2006, 12:14 AM
Sorry guys, last week's bets came up empty, although the Chiefs owe me after chucking the game away against the Brumbies. After last week, $598.50 from $580 bet ($120 not yet used).

This week, we are spending the dosh as follows:

$80 on the Bulls @ $2.50
$30 on the Stormers @ 1.91
$15 on the Hurricanes @ $2.82
$15 on the Highlanders @ $3.20
