I'm sure most of you wont need any basic navigation training - but you may someone that needs something to start them off - or maybe you can lend a hand on the night.

Orienteering Hutt Valley and Wellington Ridge Runners are putting on another series of navigation training courses. These popular courses run over two evenings in a classroom situation starting off with the basics of navigation and map reading and leading onto the use of the compass with the map and route planning. The Grand Finale is a hands-on exercise in the form of a Rogaine where some of the local experts help you plan your route and then stay with you and help with the actual navigation.

This years courses are being held at the Mainly Tramping Shop in Wellington and Brent Harrison is offering participants a very generous 25% discount off retail for anything purchased on the night.

Night one - Tuesday 23rd August 6-9pm
Night two - Tuesday 30th August 6-9pm
Training Rogaine - Tuesday 6th September

Entry to the training nights is free - but places are strictly limited - You must pre register by email to
