Am I the only one old enough to remember when we couldn't get the long distance long enough?

Greg's quote |only if its way too long as per normal" got me thinking on this lazy Sat morning.
2004 M21E 1 Carsten Jorgensen PAPO 111.00 G (Waitarere)
2003 M21E 1 Rob Jessop A 109.43 G (Woodhill)
2002 M21E 1 Bruce McLeod D 86.52 G (Tekapo)
2001 M21E 1 Jason Markham PAPO 88.23 G (Roto vegas)
2000 M21E 1 Darren Ashmore A 109.24 G (Wairarapa)
1999 M21E 1 Darren Ashmore LEK 87.16 G (Stillwater ish)
The classic races seem to fluxuiate quite a bit from year to year, as you can see from past results.
There is big difference in physically preparing yourself for a 110min classic race and an 85 min classic race. The tactics you take into the race, nutrition, pacing yourself in the beginning will differ enourmously. Hence is it unfar on competitiors to have to predict how long the classic race will be from year to year.
Lets hope that this years race is close to the 105 min target. The controller for the Classic, Alan Berry also set the 2003 WOA Champs on Smedley on a simliar kind of terrain. The results are below. Could be a hard day at the office, but I guess thats what you want at the National Champs. A race to sort the pansies from the pack.
1 M21E 1 Carsten Jorgensen PAPO 110.50 G
1 M21E 2 Stu Barr W 113.53 G
1 M21E 3 Chris Forne PAPO 115.38 G
1 M21E 4 Mark Lawson NW 117.11 G
1 M21E 5 Darren Ashmore A 121.09 G
1 M21E 6 Neil Kerrison EG 121.45 G
1 M21E 7 Bill Edwards HV 122.56 G
1 M21E 8 Brent Edwards CM 128.52 S
1 M21E 9 James Bradshaw W 131.59 S
1 M21E 10 Bryn Davies RK 137.55 S
1 M21E 11 Jonas Salen SWE 140.00 S
1 M21E 12 Andrew McCarthy HV 150.16 B
1 M21E 13 Todd Oates HB 167.44 I
1 M21E 14 Robert Murphy NW 224.15 I
1 M21E Karl Dravitzki EG DNS
1 M21E Fraser Mills A DNF
1 M21E Johan Palmer SWE DNF
Central Magic should be in good form. Currently entering the superovercompensation phase of training. Bryn and Piret are running the Queen Charlotte track today, im off cycling.

note on Andrews classic winning times and Michael comment about not being long enough, when did the winning time change to 105?
