Orienteers kick butt at Avalanche peak

Jamie Posted: 27 February 2005, 2:43 PM   Kia ora, A lovely saturday in the mountains saw orienteers completely dominate the most mountainy mountain race around. Carsten Jorgenson decimated the mens field from whoa to go romping in down the Waimak 12 minutes clear. It was not as simple in the womens with Rachel Smith taking the "Queen of the Mountain" title only to be past by that most sure footed of downhillers Lara Prince for the overall title. Fledgling orienteer Eloise Watson came through the field for a stubborn third.
