Nationals in January? Isn't it too hot and sunny?
I personally have decided on Queens Birthday, if those South Island clubs can run their club championships in May/June there is no real reason to avoid this obvious choice.
The only negative is that some orienteering geeks may be able to get into form by warming up for nationals with some quality events.
