Greg, positively unstomachable

Show Profile  Jamie Posted: 8 December 2000, 11:31 PM
Every now and then you meet someone who you find hard to take seriously, someone who is so full of themselves that it defies comprehension.

Greg Flynn is one of those people.

Greg, a person with very little running background or talent, has challenged Andrew McCarthy, David Stewart and myself to a little bit of orienteering peer competition in the Holdsworth/Jumbo Mountain Race.He has stated he will "whip our arses" and encouraged us to "bring it".

Believe me we will.

I have $100 on with Greg that I will beat him by more than 15 minutes. As Greg would say I have, "my money where my mouth is", I encourage Andrew, David and other individuals to do the same, it is like taking candy from a baby. However don't feel bad about it he has the best job in the world earning $16 per hour as a lab technician.

For the good of New Zealand orienteering we should all get stuck in and show this JWOC candidate/idiot how mch he needs to improve to compete with the worlds finest.

See you sometime in a re-entrant

Jamie

The previous posting was the 100th contribution to the Havoc section of this website. I think we should all stand back and take a moment to reflect what a fine oracle Fraser has set up here for us to publicly talk trash and personally I will ensure we (that is Fraser, Jamie and I)celebrate tonight this monumental milestone by getting absolutely shitfaced.

Thank you, and good night.

I'll drink to that.

Oh Jamie your memory is going with your hair, I said I was not placing a bet of any kind and if you think that your attemps to lure me into one by posting that I had said I would here would work you would be mistaken.

Where did you get your information that I have very little running background from?? Maybe you should find out what you are talking about before you place another stupid bet. Can you Jamie tell me what my running background is.

Show Profile  Jamie Posted: 9 December 2000, 12:42 PM
Greg, I have witnesses to our discussion on messenger where we made the bet,I also have it saved on a microsoft word file.

If you want to pull out do so, but why would you need to if you are, "the man"?

Show Profile  Greg Posted: 10 December 2000, 2:43 PM
Your imaginary friends are not witnesses.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I found it hard to read past the first paragraph. I had to read, re-read and read again Jamies opening statement.

With no reference to your stomach size Jamie, or to Gregs ethnicity.... It's just another case of the pot calling the kettle black.

As you know Stu, a watched pot never boils.

I am disappointed in my detractors, but perhaps if they had been subjected to the ongoing and unsolicited e-mails from Greg they would have more sympathy.

I don't like your tone Stu,consider yourself challenged to a duel, summit of Mt Nguarahoe, sunrise, Saturday.

But maybe you're right, I guess I have spun too much shit.

That'll be it.

Jamie, I have to question your need for extrinsic reward for your goals. From my behavioral pattern observations I feel if you were able to concentrate more fully on the process rather than the outcome you would enjoy your sport even more, with the resultant improvements in general health and well-being dis-requiring a need to take on push-up,take-away,and beer bets. You'll also save alot of money.
