Show Profile Posted: 10 October 2018, 2:22 PM
OBOP is bringing back and hosting the CD Orienteering Champs the weekend of 3-4 November. Weekend will include Middle, Sprint and Long distance events, with Long distance being on a fantastic new Okareka map. There will also be a Retr-O gear for people to strut their old O suits in during the Sprint. Check out for all the info and to enter.

It was excellent.
3 brilliant races with heaps of challenge and a good crowd.
The Retro O was entertaining.

Well done OBOP. Please do it again soon.

Rolf, O Waikato's turn next?

Sure. April 13/14 2019. AOS event on Sunday. Sprint race Saturday. No A grade status stuff.. (us Waikato people don't go to Orienteering so we can watch TV screens... we go for the mud and glory). But could be CD champs anyway.

Thank you very much OBOP for a great weekend of orienteering, great courses, great maps and a great social (although the 8 year-old in our family forced us to leave it early to play a much-promised game of cluedo)
And a chance to wear our old gear - we rarely spend money on clothes, only on going orienteering so have heaps of old stuff!

It was great, all 3 races made up for a long absence for the CD champs - and lots of new faces too (though I hope they mostly were inspired to do more champs level races rather than scared off!) The maps should go on route gadget so people who didn't go will know how hard they should be kicking themselves.

Great to see people enjoyed their time in Rotorua and that the maps and courses delivered! There was a great vibe, thanks to the positivity that everyone brought to the event so big thanks everyone for making this a worthwhile event to put on.

We'd love to see the CD champs repeated in future years so fully support O Waikatos bid for the 2019 Champs! :-)

We may also toy with a new system of event allocation being used elsewhere - any club in the country can bid for the rights to host a CD champs using their manpower and resources on maps of our choosing, and we will give them 5% of the income as reward. Any clubs interested can email the CD Champs committee with their application to

Pete, that email address doesn't seem to work for me. Is it missing a letter somewhere?
