Spotted while looking at work related maps recently: I present Cascade Point https://www.topomap.co.nz/NZTopoMap/nz24112/Cascade-Point/
I don't even know what's going on here... glacial scouring plus serious torsion thanks to the alpine fault?
Don't get too excited though, as well as being not exactly easily accessible, I'm picking the ground cover to be a slightly orienteering-unfriendly mix of pakihi bog, dense low shrubland and some good West Coast jungle off the edges.
Anyone else got other contenders for the weirdest terrain title?

So, like Pharlap and the pavlova, the Aussies stole our jumbuck too.

Parapara Stream north of Kaikoura? While it looks like a syncline I've been told it's apparently an eroded anticline. There may even be lidar post-quake.
There's a similar feature to the south of Cascade Point at the northern end of Big Bay.

I think Cascade plateau and surrounding bogs could be a 24hr rogaine area. No running required. Just pinpoint accuracy and the ability to climb trees to try and spot the control flags. :-)

This must be in New Zealand somewhere, I'm pretty sure it's the long-lost missing episode of the Educational Orienteering Videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3kKFSyYttw

Michael C - I looked up your suggestion and frankly found it anticline-actic

If Cascade Point is anything like nearby Jackson Bay it will be overrun with sand flies too.

I think I'd map that terrain as broken ground Fraser
