The Junior Girls team from Havelock North High School have done a record-breaking feat of all finishing under top 10.
Their coach, Steve Armon, was coach of the first NZ team to compete at any World's School Championship event, in 2008 in Edinbrugh. He identified back then that a high fitness level of team members would play a strategic role in obtaining success at the Worlds Championship events.
Since October the girls have been training hard. Last night their months of effort paid off.
Most in HBOC acknowledge that students in the Pukekohe High School Junior Girls Orienteering Team would have been a strong team to represent NZ at these 2015 World O-Champs. In their absence the junior girls from Hawke's Bay have stepped up to bring home gold for NZ.

The Junior Girls Team were announced World School Champions after the middle distance racce results.
No school team could catch up to the Havelock North girls team after their stunning performance in the first race.
That means Jenna Tidswell will return on the plane with TWO GOLD MEDALS clinking together - only Tim Robertson knows what that sounds like.

And its 3x Golds for NZ .... Sebastian Alyson-MacFarlane was in the winning relay team at the Worlds. His gold makes this the most successful Worlds Schools Championship for NZ.
Seb is a member of the Napier Boys High School Junior Boys team. He joined the team in Feb - a late replacement for a fellow student who pulled out due to injury. What a story he'll have for his kids.

He is rather young to have kids?
But I am sure they will be very proud.
