Might have found the best setup for filming orienteering at speed. Has to be hand-held by someone fast though!

Nice movie. When's the debut of "What we do in the reentrants", Mick Vinn?

We had a drone at our Summer Series two weeks ago. See our HB Club facebook page for pics of the event centre... It was quite cool. (The President was wondering if we had public liability insurance if it dropped out of the sky onto a participant?).

Some drone footage. https://vimeo.com/107458568
Tricky to fly over people without their permission, definitely not a good idea to fly over a crowd as you get flyways and drops, mostly user-error but not always. And it's illegal.

We have very sensible UAV/drone rules in NZ compared to Aust/US - It's ok to fly up to 400feet, >4km from an airport, daytime, not in a city nor over public recreation area (i.e. sports field) nor over private property or crowds without permission - all this without certification or training. We'll have certification/rego options later this year for circumstances outside these. And there's no need to register for commercial use, unlike Aus or USA.

Perhaps some of these in the gear kit could be handy to catch everyone approaching controls? https://vimeo.com/115723017
