I was just looking through some old maptalk discussions and came across these results from the Auckland Summer Series in 2001. I figured Gene must have been nearly 10 and Renee nearly 8. My how their km rates have improved since then.
Course 4 2.2 kms
1 Sophie Lange 0:18:02
2 Melanie Michels 0:21:06
3 Sandy McGivern 0:21:50
4 Gene Beveridge 0:25:40
5 Margaret Sydenham 0:26:00
6 Jenny Andrew 0:27:00
7 I & P 0:27:30
8 Sebastian Olsen 0:28:34
9 Renee Beveridge 0:38:00
10 Thomas 0:45:00

I took 45min for 2.8km on last night's sprint. I hope I can do better like your two in 13 years time:-))

Mike I'm afraid to say I don't think it works that way, much is the pity.

After reading this post I was checking out the K rates on the stats website.
http://www.orienteeringresults.com/O/nzof/KmRatesmenu.asp
It has the top 100 for each class and makes interesting reading looking at the younger grades.
Special mention for Nick Hann's effort at the Otago Champs on Sunday. 76:53 for 15.2km would put him in 11th on the "Top 100 Men > 5k" for all time.
