ANZ MTBO Challenge

NZ has an understrength team at the Oz MTBO Challenge this weekend, but secured three class wins in the middle distance today. NZ went one-two in W50 and M60, and 1st in M70 for which a special one-person-to-count has been negotiated. Results may appear on www.ausmtbochamps.com, or Eventor. The semi-arid terrain on the outskirts of Alice Springs provided excellent technical courses.

The first day proved the best for NZ with two wins in the long and just one in the sprint. On top each day were the W50's consisting of Deb Bain and Sally Dickson (PAPO) and Jacqui Sinclair from Taranaki. The terrain continued to impress - and in some cases express - air from the tires. Small seedballs called three-cornered jacks are widespread and caused a number of punctures. But the riding was superb.
