I am an orienteer from Finland. Me and my wife are coming to New Zealand in October. We have a relatively short visit, we are flying to Auckland on October 2nd and leaving from Christchurch on October 15th. We are planning to rent a car and drive from Auckland to Christchurch with some extra loops on the way. In spite of the tight schedule, we are interested in orienteering in New Zealand. I was thinking if you would have some ideas or recommendations how to arrange a couple of orienteering experiences during our stay?

There is a regional event near Christchurch on Sunday 13th October. It is 1 hour's drive west of the city. Visit the 'Events' section at the top of this page to read more. Also go to the website of the organising club for more details closer to the date of the event. www.papo.org.nz

Thanks for your messages. I had noticed all those events from the event page. I was meaning to ask if it is possible to get some maps and go orienteering by ourselves. I know most of the terrains are privately owned but some are puplic also?
