Marquita's performance would have to be one of the most impressive performances in an Orienteering race I've ever seen. To lose only 10 seconds on one of the hardest Orienteering areas in the world is phenomenal. In the field was Eija Koskivaara, a former WOC medallist, who although not as fit as her elite days still is a formidable competitor. It says a lot about the area that someone of Eija's calibre could lose 30 minutes on one control. Eija also said she could not see Marquita's time - neither could the second placegetter.

To you young'uns who frequent this forum, be aware that some of our veterans are truly world-class competitors. They deserve our respect and admiration.

Also, lets not forget, the majority of these people are stalwarts of the sport.
Look at the names !
They are club officials, National officials, mappers, they set, control and administer events,
they teach the sport to young and old ie. training camps, seminars etc, and they have been doing these things for years.
They certainly deserve our respect and admiration as competitors, but I would also like to add our gratitude for their input to our sport !
Think about it !
Where would the sport be without them ?

Spring, Summer, Winter 'O' yeah !
