I hope this isn't perceived as spam, if so please feel free to delete it...
Orienteerers might find NZ Topo Map - http://www.topomap.co.nz - useful:
The topo map itself is useful enough, but the ability to add your own KML or GPX file over the top to show routes might be useful for illustrating event routes or your own routes recorded through a GPS device, etc.
You can create mini maps from the "Share" tab, but if you get stuck or need the maps tweaking in any way I'll gladly help.
Features of the topo map include...
* Both the official LINZ 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 map series are available in their entirety.
* Search functionality to enable you to quickly and easily locate features as peaks, huts, streams, etc.
* Coordinate conversion functionality which supports NZTM and NZMG.
* Ability to share a link to a specific location (with pin and label if required).
* Embed a mini-map in your own website with routes overlaid using KML or GPX files if you so wish.
* Advanced map printing which results in high resolution map print-outs.
* Downloadable Garmin Custom Maps.
* And more!
