JWOC 2011

Well now we have the resignation of Rebekah Brooks and her replacement by Tom Mockridge. The kiwi from the Taranaki Daily News who became chief executive at TV network Spy Italia. Plenty of tabloid material there from Berlusconi down; in fact we believe that the delay in the revision of the IOF mapping specifications is due to an Italian demand. They want to change the colour of the course markings from purple to ruby.

Hopefully NZ will have soon have better defences against these underarm tactics. News that John Key has succeeded in stitching up an intelligence sharing agreement with the US can't come soon enough, with revelations last week of those News of the World reporters impersonating Mossad agents impersonating Israeli backpackers coming to light. Key has one more visit before returning home, visiting Harriman State Park where a distant relative produced the maps for the 93 world champs.

But these tactics may already be here. The bizarre story today of the chief executive who resigned after $500K went missing. The Dompost (but perhaps not the Herald) listed that he's been a priest, lover of an ex-Labour MP, dean of a cathedral, and tied up in a scandal involving the male choir! I ask you. Obviously false (anyone who loves a Labour MP couldn't do a thing like that) but why the tabloid muckraking? Thank goodness we haven't got any skeletons in the closet, that little loan fee required some creative accounting but as soon as the money comes through from Western Gulf Advisory we'll be sweet.

Calamity this morning, newspapers in the Fairfacts group haven't been able to publish due to a significant computer problem. Tch tch, is no-one immune from hacking these days?? Far-sighted move to ditch NZO before it got attacked..

With news that Heather Mills was caught in the mirror this hacking is spreading like a disease. Was watching on TV the opening of the Guillain-Barre Stadium. My legs started to feel rubbery and my footsie went numb. It had been recovering quite nicely since the last crash but all of a sudden it drooped 3.4%. I hope it comes right before Oceania.

What next? The loss of civilisation in Britain, free enterprise in the US, clean and green New Zealand farms. But if you need something to lift your spirits you can't go past Orienteers and Aliens. Based on the novel by Scott Mitchael Rosenbenny and directed by Tanné Ambreau it's a unique blend of western and sci-fi with a spiritual component to it. The cast is led by Christiel Craig the mysterious Stranger, who walks into the hard-bitten town of Adidas, which is ruled by the tough, uncompromising Colonel Dolarhyde played by Morrison Ford. Olizia Wilde is the beguiling Ella, who holds the key to unlocking the Stranger's past. Screening now.
