Emily has been updating her blog each day, so if you are interested to read some ski O banter and see some pictures of the Kiwis trying to ski check out:

Maybe relevant to proposals for the foot-o WOC, there's a mixed sprint relay today Sweden time (3am NZ time). I think its a bit different (1M+1W doing 3 legs each) but it might throw some light on whether it's fun to follow or so many handovers that you can't figure out what's going on.

Chris has come out of the World Ski-O Champs with a world ranking of 168, Emily is 181. It seems that in Ski-O they take the average of the best 5 scores rather than the sum. This means that those who can't maintain 5 current scores are given a more realistic ranking. There might be statistical reasons for wanting several results for an athlete, but I wonder if we should be arguing for this basis in MTBO and Foot-O.

That diverted me... I was going to note one of the big surprises in the Ski-O was an 8th place in the long by USA's Alison Crocker, who is now ranked 33. And in spite of a lack of depth the US women made 8th in the relay. Crocker is also a tidy foot-orienteer, she's ranked 115 there.
