NZOF and Coaching

Stu Barr comes out with more priceless words ....

"the NZOF should stop focusing solely on coaching ... it does not add to the promotion or growth of our sport"

Two paragraphs later ...

"I believe the way to keep juniors in our sport is through their social interactions and relationships with other orienteers and this is promoted through the squads and camps"

What, keep juniors in the sport through the squads and camps that form a significant part of the NZOF coaching activities, which does not add to the growth of our sport??? Or perhaps Stu means keeping juniors is not part of growing our sport.

Stu I'm surprised. The amount of camps you have attended, either as a participant and coach, run under an NZOF banner - the NZOF coaching qualifications you have bothered to get - and you come out swinging implying coaching is a waste of time.

As for coaching being the sole focus of NZOF - I can assure you it's not. Go and have a read of our Strategic Plan on that useless NZOF website.
