Show Profile  Jenni Posted: 31 August 2009, 4:57 AM
Seeing there's topics on the other big events this spring I thought I should put one in for the Canterbury Chanps.
September 26th and 27th on the Kairaki and Craigieburn maps whic have been only used previously for the Oceania events earlier this year. See the papo webpage for an entry form www.papo.org.nz. Entries close on Monday September 14th. Great rienteering with great venues!

The weather hasn't been the best in the mountains the last couple of
days and the Craigieburn area is now covered in snow. The weather
forecast looks alright and the event is all go at the moment.

But in case the weather turns bad again and we have to cancel, the usual
procedure would be used i.e. listen to NewstalkZB 1098 AM. Cancellations are
repeated every 30 minutes from 6 am to 9 am and then hourly after that.

Please note that you will be orienteering in an exposed area (elevation
800-900m.)
and will need to dress accordingly. The controller is allowed to stop a
person from
starting if the controller thinks that the person is under-dressed for
the conditions.

With hopes for a great weekend of orienteering (in reasonable weather
conditions)!

Well looking forward to this.

First "O" event for me since 1997's ANZ Challenge Event at Dalethorpe.

Fingers crossed the weather behaves!

Typical, bloody South Island

Show Profile  Casser Posted: 25 September 2009, 8:33 AM
You'll be right as long as you wear a bit more than the speedos and the too short tight singlets that North Islanders normally parade around in!

Here is it possible to follow the weather situation very close to the sunday event:

It doesn't look bad at all - maybe speedos is a go anyways!

...that must be because South Islanders don't own speedos: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ezD5cSFrOG0/SmRZhm9P8SI/AAAAAAAACz0/LYW7v2orH6o/s1600-h/824+%28Tramping+Bergen,+Norway%29.jpg
