Reporting from JWOC 2008

Show Profile  Martin Posted: 29 June 2008, 10:11 PM
Arrived in Goteborg today to watch JWOC (having spent a few days in Denmark) and will endevour to post some news on Maptalk News as the week unfolds.

Chaos ensues at the event office after a stuff up in the startlists and numbers, the team is itching to get some sleep but want to know what's up.

From what I've seen today hopefully 24hours is enough to get things sorted, the event office is an (organised?) shambles

Live results and commentary at http://www.gmok.nu/jwoc2008/online.php

13.54 Scott

Some news of what we have been doing, and some pics from the past week...people and maps.

Monday
Todd Oates has joined up with us from the Norway events, to act as Physio.
It is really cold and windy all day. Planned activities and training for the week. Training on a nearby map after dinner.

Tuesday
Decided too hard to catch local trams and buses, and it was going to take too long to get to training maps, so we have organised a van and a car, like we had in Norway.
And the cost won't be a lot different than a dozen going on public transport.
Morning doing controls. Nice lake for lunch near the start triangle. Then interval training afterwards.

Wednesday
Training in the morning. Then we hooked up with the Aussies for some relay training in the afternoon. The afternoon terrain was bad undergrowth, and slow km rates.

Thursday
Sprint training. Ross Morrison has hooked up with us for a couple of days.

Friday
Llots of the teams arriving now.
Last day of training.

Nah...shit aye. You would expect more from Sweden.

Show Profile  kiwio Posted: 30 June 2008, 3:49 PM
is anyone seeing the live results yet?

Show Profile  Greg Posted: 30 June 2008, 3:58 PM
live results are not working, and the commentary is ok if it didn't need to buffer every 10 seconds

Show Profile  kiwio Posted: 30 June 2008, 4:19 PM
very disappointing "live" coverage - only the top runners get any mention in the commentary - which would be ok if the live results were working - I'd say go to bed
