The NZ Wheelies have binned Australia in the third A-NZ Challenge in MTBO. Over a middle, sprint and long at the weekend in the Hunter Valley NZ won 4-3, 4-3, 4-3. Marquita G won all three in W-Elite, while Pete Swanson, Dave King and Andrew McNeil grabbed 1-2-3 in the sprint. http://www.bigfootorienteers.com/Results/

That wouldn't be code for "someone should write a bit more, with checking of the facts, and post it to the news section of Maptalk" would it?

Seems that the mud wasn't confined to the bikes. The OA website talks about NZ's "narrow" 11-10 victory. There is no published list of challenge results yet - but the discrepancy MAY be in W40 where Australia fielded a reserve in the long. Hope we don't have to talk about underarm bowling again:-))
Anyway, we won! Have we ever won a challenge on Australian soil? We certainly have in the junior challenges, but what about the age-groups?

22 of us went over for 5 races and 5 days training on some great maps in Lithgow and Cessnock areas, and had a ball. Despite what some of you may think it was the best navigators that could control their speed that did the most winning, just like foot orienteering.
The team win was really surprising as we had only 2 in most classes whereas the Aussies had the luxury of having 3 with the best 2 results to count.
Hopefully this motivates some for Poland in August next year for the WOC and first JWOC for mtbo. There is also a world masters cup over 6 races. If anyone is interested in any of these contact me at rgmg@xtra.co.nz
