Correction, it kicked off today Wed. Team ARC had a bit of drama with gear being held up in customs. First stage is a kayak/snorkel rogaine. www.xpd.com.au

orion must've had the same gear trouble through customs as it was packed in with ARC's for shipping.

Strange leaderboard. Shows Orion 25th when the reports say they left the last transition in 4th. Something to do with penalties?? Their form suggests 4th is more likely than 25th.

Don't know what you are looking at Michael, shows 4th for me. 24 minutes off the lead at the last transition.

Race report: "The team were heard to comment that the orienteering section looked extremely challenging. However, the Stingers have two exceptional navigators in Damon Gough and Kim Willocks so they’re likely to do well."
Sorry, Rob:-((

Race report; "The leaderboard may not reflect departure times for those teams that did not check out with CP officials."
Seems like rather a basic safety/logistic protocol has not been followed?

Haha thats brilliant, I know for a fact that the fella Damon followed robbie round the world rogaine champs without even looking at his map.

Well, doing a rogaine without looking at your map must take some pretty exceptional navigation skills!!??!

Stingers look to have it sewn up barring catastrophes - it includes ozzie orienteer Rob Preston. OrionHealth is solidly in second and another NZ team Norsewear 4th.

...and then it seems there was a cockup with a map or checkpoint description, Stingers couldn't find it and buttoned off, thinking they would be unranked, Orion passed them and won by 42 minutes!
Rumpty checkpoint locations seem to be not that uncommon in AR, it will be interesting to see what the story is here. Once when I was looking for work I offered my services as a checker to a number of AR organisers. Not a single response. But they must become more receptive - another work opportunity for a national squaddie?
PS Another opportunity could be improving the XPD website - Simon?
