A bit closer to OZ - they got 4 women in. (We coulda!) The C'wealth leader by a mile is GBR - 3 women and FOUR men (assuming that both 20th equals go thru.)

You mean there's actually RAIN in Hawkes Bay?
Remember that APOC day at the Slump? Water at the start came from a beer tanker. Not as good as it sounds...

Anything over 2ml per day counts as rain here

2 milli-litres spread over all of Hawkes Bay, yes I see you have a different perspective

Commentary says Haines is a second behind (must be slight diffs in the commentators' timing system) so misses out on 20th. GBR therefore 3 men and 3 women, still impressive.

Yes back to work. Specially you Nic since I'm paying you. Do you by any chance have a trailer wine tanker that you'll be using for refreshments at the Labour Weekend Chris?

We were planning on a supertanker for competitors not from HB

Uhuh. Hey why don't you spray it on the vines, that would make bigger crops, then you could spray more on the vines, and...
But a message for the team management - want more on the blog - how are people feeling - stories of highs and lows - can be cathartic for those involved - what's the terrain like - did it cost an arm and a leg for supporters to get into the Western Plains Zoo - etc etc

What's the Maptalk record for the number of posts on one thread in a day? I hope the team are checking in - thanks guys for the excitement today, and I'm looking forward to two more edge-of-the-seat days. Good skills, good speed, good luck!

For the stats junkies: 23 countries represented in the A final (22 with men, 20 with women). NOBODY took 12 final places, OR got 6 men OR 6 women through (maybe some of the smaller teams got 100%, but I doubt it). Swiss, Sweden & Norway made 5 & 5, Czech (M), Finland (W) and Russia (W) had 5 in one sex but not the other (Fin and Rus getting just 3 and 1 man in respectively). NZ's 3 & 1 compares pretty damn well as not that far behind these "power" countries, as well as being similar the "next tier" European countries (Germany, Hungary, Lithuania etc)
It's been my impression so far that having JWOC on this side of the world hasn't had nearly as huge an impact on the depth of competition as some might have predicted. As well as the above stats, consider the small time differences leading to big placing differences over the races so far, and look at how much some individuals - including some of the faves - have moved up & down the results over the 3 events.
