It's been mentioned before, several times, but looking at the Wellington Champs start list it pops up again. The same people starting within 1 or 2 people once again.
So how random is sportident? & how can the draws be improved?

You should know random numbers are not random

I didnt use sportIdent to do the Starts for the Wellington champs.
I used the =RAND() function in excel and then sorted on ascending order.
And then moved a few to avoid club members running together and for special start time requests.

The draw shouldn't be random. It should be based on the latest ranking list. Worst ranked to start first with the number one rank to start last. Therefore you earn your start position rather than leaving it up to luck.
Not sure what other grades would think about this, but I think it would at least be appropriate for elites.

I agree with Fraser. Especially if elite rankings are over a "floating" time frame and therefore kept reasonably up to date.
