Just to let you all know that the long rumoured HB Rogaine in December is now fact with 85 square ks of brutal HB hill country selected. 65% open farmland with deep bush filled gorges, 35% pine forest of varying age. 9th December, 12,8 & 4 hour options.

Brutal? You don't know what brutal is, when aye were yung we hadda rogaine with bare feet and a candle... For brutal try 4 Nov in the western Tararuas - 12/6/3hrs based at Reikorangi at the foot of Kapakapanui. Takes in native bush, farmland, and open tops. Camping and bunkhouse accommodation but you have to sleep standing up. www.outdoor.co.nz/rogaine.aspx

At least you had a candle, we had to light our fingernails when it got dark and sleeping standing up is such a luxury!

Fingernails! Lookshery! When I were a lad we had to tear out our fingernails just to pay the entry fee for a rogaine, and to tell how much of the time limit we had left we had to put a stick in ground to see where the sun was.
