Newsworthy Events ?

Just a thought...

It seems NZOF is missing out on opportunities to promote the great things currently happening in the sport by its members, both within NZ and overseas. In the past few weeks we had/have at least JWOC, WMOC, MTBO, NZSSO, Oringen, WOC.

Couldn't we have a 'news' section on http://www.nzorienteering.com/ ?

The only 'reports' currently available seem to be the rants / raves / ramblings / abuse on maptalk. Maybe this serves a purpose for some...?

By comparison, see what our neighbours have been doing/promoting within their O community:

the aussie o webpage has a login feature that lets lots of people edit the news page and update the content.

We've just got Paul who does a great job.

The MTBO and Rogaine websites (which are logically part of the NZOF website) have regularly-updated news. I'd like to see more news on the front page, quite brief and linking to specialist parts of the website as appropriate - such as High Performance. But it's a significant job - almost every day.

NZOF is the clubs too, and you would think that club websites would have more news. A quick scan of the clubs which have members in Denmark shows no mention of WOC!

In fact, there's an inverse relationship between the flashiness of the websites and their up-to-date-ness. This forum for excample has no pictures but is worth visiting cos there will be something new. Loads fast too.

slight problem when the webmaster is in the team. we'd rather she concentrated on the races than keep us up to date, there'll be lots more to say after the event
