Three Kiwis in World Top 100

Three New Zealanders are ranked amongst the top 100 orienteers in the world. The latest rankings published today by the International Orienteering Federation put Tania Robinson, Counties Manukau, in 55th place in the women's field, up nine places from her ranking the previous month of 64.

Rachel Smith, Auckland, is now ranked 73, up 7 places from 80 the previous month.

In the men's field top New Zealander is Chris Forne, Canterbury with a new ranking of 66, up 14 places from 80 the month before.

Also improved in world placings are:

Women
Penny Kane, Canterbury, 116 (132 previous month)
Rebecca Smith, Taupo, 120 (135)
Jenni Adams, Canterbury, 123 (139)
Lara Prince, Canterbury, 135 (149)
Claire Paterson, Manawatu, 155 (167)

Men
Darren Ashmore, Taupo, 105 (122)
Karl Dravitzki, Taranaki 133 (147)

Apart from Adams and Prince all were members of the New Zealand team that competed in the World Orienteering Championships in Japan last month. Their personal best performances at the championships have contributed to their improved world placings.

All except Adams, who has gained her points competing in Europe, also acquired world ranking points at the NZ championships earlier this year.
