What comes first - the chicken or egg?

Show Profile  HeadHoncho Posted: 12 November 2000, 3:02 PM
Many a senseless debate has been had over this question.

Some people say the chicken comes first because without a chicken, how can an egg be laid?

On the other hand, how can a chicken come into being without an egg been sat on, warmed, nurtured etc etc?

So what comes first, the chicken or egg?

Now some of you might be wondering what this has to do with this forum. Read on.

Postings in the last couple of days has seen a poor, struggling junior crying out for help and encouragement in his quest to be a dedicated athlete while this bad-ass, nasty, washed-up ex-elite has been hinting indirectly that he might get some help if he actually showed some dedication.

Enough negativity I say. I've had my fun.

OK Greg I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. With peers as witnesses, I hereby publicly declare my generous offer to assist you in your quest to achieve your goals in Orienteering.

But before you accept, think carefully. THINK VERY CAREFULLY. Think about what type of person I am and what type of "coach" I would make. Think about the reaction you would get if I found you in bed on a rainy day in Auckland (we have quite a few) when you should be out training. Think about the lengths I would go to, to tell the world what a wimp-ass soft feline creature you are when DNF'ing your first M21E event, because you found the 3 hour slog in the Waitakeres the day before a bit "tough". (Not that I think you would I hasten to add, but you should think about all eventualities.)

Perhaps you should ask around some people who know me a bit better so you are really sure about what you are letting yourself in for. Because if you accept this once-only, generous offer of mine, there will be no turning back - well, of course you can, but don't expect me to be quiet about it if you do. In fact, expect me to be crowing like I have been to Dave Stewart every time I see him.

If you wish to accept this magnanimous gesture, I think it would be appropriate for you to publicly record it in this forum so our peers are witnesses. Then we can communicate on a more private basis. But think carefully. THINK VERY CAREFULLY.

So Greg, I'm prepared to be the chicken and shit on you - sorry, I mean sit on you and nurture you. Will you be an egg???

The last sentence go tchopped off in cut and paste.

It was meant to read:

"Will you be an egg??? Or are you chicken???"

Anybody else want come for a training run up Mt Te Aroha and either around the back ridge and down to Waiorongomai (12km) or back around down Mt Te Aroha a different way (7km), on Saturday and then go to back 2 back live in Hamilton ($20)

Brent

I think you should be respectful to the many mature people who read this forum and you should refrain from airing your sexual fantasies and dreams in public.

I nearly lost my lunch.

Sorry my mistake it will never happen again, but there was 2 points to my last posting and the main one was to advertise that back 2 back (DJ's Sam Hill and Baxter) were playing in Hamilton on Saturday night and this is the last chance to see/hear/feel/experience this tour, I thought that this would be read and taken in by those aimed at if posted in havoc
