The MTBO trophy stays in Australia after three tough races near the surfing resort of Anglesea, Victoria. Despite many great performances, Australia won the sprint 5-3, and the middle 6-2, leaving a near impossible target for the long. NZ did turn the tables though winning 5-3 on the last day. Scores are from memory. Some of the team have returned home, others will take part in a 6+6 foot+MTB rogainne this weekend.

On Saturday bikes had to be left behind on a 6hr rogaine near Daylesford. Top kiwis among 96 teams were Tom Spencer and Ed Steenbergen in 6th. At least I think Ed used to live in Nelson but he's in Oz at the moment. On Sunday we were allowed our bikes again on an enlarged area and this time came to the fore: Tom and Ed 2nd, Rob/Marquita/Nick Collins 3rd and 1st mixed vets. Over the two days Tom and Ed 3rd, Steve Pyatt/Cath Hepplethwaite 5th and 2nd mixed vet. Rogaine results at http://vra.rogaine.asn.au/results-list/

Ed and family lived in Nelson and was very active in our club until the start of this year when they returned to Oz. Expect to see him back for Godzone and perhaps in a few more years after that when the kids leave school. Great result for him.
