600 people registered as at ordinary entry close. Last-minuters waiting for the weather forecast (and one can understand families who make up a big proportion) should be encouraged by good weather.

The Chris Forne team won the 6hr section of the City Safari held today on Wellington's resilient public transport network. Olympian and Atlantic rower Rob Hamill and family were called up for a mixed or family prize but Rob admitted an old "war injury" cropped up and the team continued without him. The course ran over 5 pages based on central Wellington, Khandallah, Avalon, Petone and Eastbourne and some controls were only visible from public transport - eg the wharf at Somes Island.

Results are up. You can see everyone's routes, within the limits of the texting system. I think an outstanding performance was that of "Lost Jafas" (Alina and Kate Smirnova) who were first women and 7th overall. Given their team name, they might not have known what public transport actually is:-))

One of OHV's most enthusiastic participants is John Randal, aka Sifter. Read his story: http://sifter-writes-bikes.blogspot.co.nz/2015/05/2015-metlink-city-safari.html
