...not. Every other year the Ak Attack MTB rogaine is NOT in the Akatarawas. This year is one of those years, and the 4/8hr event is on 25 Jan. It's actually in Belmont Regional Park, EQ-created terrain between Lower Hutt and Porirua. And in another departure, you don't have to stay with your bike. In fact you don't have to HAVE a bike, which opens up a new element of strategy. Normal entries due tomorrow at www.akattack.org.nz

Entries have doubled over last year. Nitty Gritty posted on the website. Fine day forecast for Sunday. Late entries open subject to map numbers of course.

Makara peak Mudslingers (Simon Kennett and John Randal) returned from a gap to win the 8hr Ak Attack again, in extremely hot conditions today. But it was a foot-only team Lightning Speed Robots in 2nd place, and another foot team won the 4hr category. Preliminary results have been posted.
