Final result for the Australia-NZ individual challenge was 37-23 to Australia (15-5 for the sprint, 10-10 middle, 12-8 long).

Thanks Blair.. and congrats.

I understand some grades were not contested because NZ did not put up a team. Out of interest what was the score if those were discounted?

27-23. NZ didn't have teams in M40, W40 or W60 all week, and didn't have an M60 team for the sprint but put one together for the middle and long.

Does the relay not count for the Challenge?

Most people didn't seem to know about these compulsory grades, and without them things would have been very interesting. I always thought it was the visiting team that nominates the grades, and that is the case in MTBO.
It would be fairer to have either 40 or 45, 50 or 55, 60 or 65 to be compulsory dictated by the visiting team, I reckon.
It was a superb carnival, and we all loved Tassie as a holiday destination.

The relay is a separate competition (drawn 10-10, as it was in 2013).

As long as I've been involved, there's been a set of compulsory classes (at present, 16, 20, 21, 40, 50 and 60), with others nominated by the visiting team. Obviously NZ would have done better to deploy the resources it had into those classes (for example, I think our M40 team would have been had its work cut out to beat the NZ M45 one).
