Entries are now open for The Big Trig, a 3/6/9hr rogaine in the Akatarawas on 29 Nov. Rugged native bush, fantastic views over Cook Strait, and some easy areas for family groups. Something like the 150th rogaine by OHV. http://bigtrig.ohv.org.nz

PS ROGAINE = Rugged Outdoor Group Activity Involving Navigation and Endurance. No solos. Minimum gear list. Don't think you're going to flit around this course in a running singlet.

The start location for the Big Trig Rogaine on 29 November has been announced. The 3/6/9hr event will start at Whareroa Farm, just north of Paekakariki on SH1.

On the coastal side of the highway is Queen Elizabeth Park, and families will be able to score points on fairly flat sand-dune farmland. Whareroa Farm is on the inland side of the highway, and will have controls for teams prepared to climb the hills. Though steep, mountainbikers have created easy ways up. But the best terrain is beyond – the native bush of the Akatarawa Forest. We’ve found HEAPS of previously unmapped tracks – its like a maze in there. So it’s an area of three parts, and we recommend the 9hr option to fully appreciate it!

Entries are due by 19 Nov.
