Garmins

Just a thought. Maybe NZOF could invest in some garmins for various people to use. so could get a set of i don't know 5 or 6 or how ever many and then they could go to dsquad camps, high performance camps, go over to jwoc, woc etc, even junior camps maybe. I think the quick route overlay is quite handy. Especially when I was pretty average I would've love to know where I had been. Also at some of the first overseas training it would be nice to review and know what was going. And it's a good way of seeing how well you are traffic lighting, etc. Might be a good way to spend some left over money. I think they're about $320 for a forerunner 305. So looking at ~ $1600 for 5

The IOF rules don't permit GPS watches so if you're thinking of running WOCs etc. with them, think again. However, as far as I'm away you can carry a GPS tracker such as http://www.ol-shop.at/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=180 or http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26643

NZOF doesn't invest in equipment :-)

They work well.

The NZOF's idea of investment is a term deposit...

I meant more for training, not competition

Actually Jamie, my idea of investment is to place it on no.4 in Race 6 but I've been told that's not appropriate for a non-profit organisation.

As far as OP's idea goes it's better than some that gets thrown out there but at the moment NZOF chooses to be an asset-less organisation.
