Quick call for help from the South African orienteering community.
We're in a dire need for more maps, and in a situation where volunteer burn-out is a significant problem in a very small community (even compared to NZ).
Do any of you know of anyone in New Zealand who would be able/willing to make an orienteering map in South Africa, in exchange for a free trip here? We have funds to cover travel, but no money for a salary. We're therefore looking for someone that has some mapping experience, but is not at a professional level. We are lacking people even at a relative beginner level, so see getting somebody over as the only real option.
Please pass the enquiry on to anyone you think may be interested or could know someone who is.
Anyone interested please contact me and/or Margaret (see below). At the moment the enquiry is from the Cape Town club (PenOC), but the South African Orienteering Federation may also come on board.
If you are interested or have any contacts that may be interested in this (both now and over the next few years) please let us know by emailing Margaret on this address:
