What didn't anyone stay up??? I must admit to only looking this morning, surprised (and pleased) to see the innovations in the competition format in the Nordic Tour. Combination of middle+sprint with change of map scale. Legitimises the "inserts at larger scale" as used here occasionally, as well as doing it with a map change.

And more innovations in stages 2 and 3. Read about them at http://nordicorienteeringtour.ikk.no

It does not "Legitimises the "inserts at larger scale"", it changed to a proper 'sprint' map and course, not an area that is too complex to map and read properly unless you blow it up 500%

Hard luck Lizzie to just miss out on the 1/4 finals by a few seconds. There is a bit of video coverage of the final of the knock out sprint here - http://www.orientering.se/Nyheter/Knockout-segeravtaktiskHelenaJansson/ Looks like fun, we would have some awesome areas for this sort of racing!

Agree. Years ago Malcolm ran some sprints with a mass start (Waitarere, Tinakori), though more recently we have felt the need to have loops and forking. Likewise the Oz sprint champs used to have a mass start for the older classes, now they have moved to intervals. It would be a different type of competition - but maybe some similarities to the big relays where not every leg has splits? Where are your dream venues Darren?
