JWOC09 Long

Show Profile  Michael Posted: 7 July 2009, 4:58 PM
Meanwhile Toby is running steadily, just ahead of Scott's pace.

Show Profile  Todd Oates Posted: 7 July 2009, 5:04 PM
Looks like Greta and Tom might get top 30 finishes. Kate got a good tow from Ida Bobach but seems to be running alone again at the second radio, can she hold the pace?

Show Profile  Michael Posted: 7 July 2009, 5:04 PM
Dammit a Brit has snuck in front of Greta.

Show Profile  Neil K Posted: 7 July 2009, 5:05 PM
Yeah, good finish from Thom too. Should get a top 50.

Show Profile  mick finn Posted: 7 July 2009, 5:09 PM
Kate for 16th I reckon if she hangs in there

Awesome stuff

Show Profile  Todd Oates Posted: 7 July 2009, 5:28 PM
Seems like the men's course is brutal...

Current pole position is 76 in the men's.

014 REYNOLDS Thomas NZL 1:27:31
051 MCDONALD Scott NZL 1:43:01
069 HARVEY Jourdan NZL 1:56:28
999 SCOTT Toby NZL DSQ (this just came up)

In the Estonian Long the winner did 64 and I did 96 and remember it being very tiring.
I know these guys are fitter than I was at JWOC hence I'm thinking the race must be nasty.

Well done guys. Just Jager and Peat to come now.

Simon good - only 6min behind Thomas but 20 places! Maybe more. Switzerland hasn't dominated like it did yesterday. Where's Andrew, can't find him anywhere?

Some pics from the Long:
http://picasaweb.google.com/Norm.Jager/JWOC2009_07_07Long#

The day started off cool, but fine. Then the clouds rolled in, and dropped so we were in cloud at race elevation of 2000m. Then about midday, thunderstorm and wind for about 90min. It got really cold for about 15min at the worst of it. Then it was fine again for people starting after about 2pm. So the terrain underfoot was pretty boggy in places, just like at home!

A few very happy team members with their results, a few disappointed.
Toby botched the butterfly loops.

Tomorrow is the rest day. We are taking in a Cable Car trip to the top of San Martino.

Right now we have another massive thunder and lightning storm going on here in Primiero...this weather happening is very unseasonable we are told for July. One lightning must have hit very nearby, as the thunder was almost immediate, and the adjacent hotel just lost its power.

Who was running during the thunderstorm and were they affected by it? Attackpoint discussion about the North Americans made a lot of it, mentioning the word hypothermia. Or are they just woosses?
