Route Geeks (aka Marquita and Paul this is for you)

The first two Auckland OY's are up on NZ Route Gadget, thanks to Mike, Rolf and Martin

I will be trying to get all the AOC OY's up this year.

if you were a real route geek Greg you would have noticed I put my track for OY2 on at midnight last night. At this point I'm having touble getting OY1 to display the map.

I don't seem to have any problems with viewing the map and the courses??? Does it work for you Paul now?

Show Profile  Paul I Posted: 7 May 2009, 3:10 AM
All sweet now thanks Carsten

Someone's got to make it worth the effort to put the maps on route gadget! Wish more people would use it - gets boring looking at your own little dot running around the forest.

especially when all you see is Marquita passing you over and over

Maybe we need more of a publicity plan to get it going (whinging on maptalk only gets you so far as that is talking to the converted).

A few ideas...

1) Those three guys that tied in M50 have they all got their routes on route gadget? They could be asked to.

2) Article in NZO

3) Posters/flyers at events....or the old classic....www.routechoice.co.nz on the back of all the maps in the box

Its a critical mass thing, and those of us wise people that see the benefit just have to keep on with it for a while to make it happen.

Good points Jamie. Some incentives perhaps? Find a website sponsor and give some prizes away. As far as coaching goes this is an excellent tool for learning...this would be one of the more useful ways to spend our usually squandered coaching budget.

You could always make some friends Marquita, talk to them at the events and then get them to draw it up at home, its a thing called socialising, not seen very often at Auckland events, but this phenomenon does exist

Greg has friends????

Show Profile  Greg Posted: 8 May 2009, 4:39 AM
I didn't say me I said Marquita, I prefer to abuse people from afar
