I think we could orienteer on Streetview. We could set courses (using Q&A controls) without leaving home.
There are some limitations, it is definitely street-orientated, and if you try and cut across blocks (even where a walkway is shown) it sidesteps until it finds a street that allows travel. Doesn't cut across open ground between streets as we would wish. However an amazing piece of work. No indication of date of photography as far as I can see but that's probably deliberate.

Looks like you can do the first ever Streetview Race tomorrow - http://www.remmaps.it/rsrc/streetview/index_en.htm

You might be disadvantaged before you start though by NZ's slow broadband connection speeds!

Hmm, have to somehow disable the ability to jump straight to each control (using the google map) without travelling the streets.
