Hi Guys,
Jaime Goodwin Here. Next April I'm off to Scotland for the World Schools Orienteering Champs. I was just wondering if anyone had any maps (recent or old!) of Scotland. I would really appreciate it as I have absolutely no idea what to expect! We are based in Edinburough... if thats any help??
Cheers

Try Lisa Frith as she spent some time there and lives in Hawkes Bay.
We have generally found Scottish maps to be not so different to NZ in that there is plenty of gully/spur terrain, and a good variety. Marquita has plenty of maps she can show you when you are up in Auckland for the trials, if Lisa can't help.

I'd be suprise if you can't find all the areas you want on the internet. Particuarly try the route gadget site
http://www.routegadget.co.uk/index.html
The edinburgh clubs are edinburgh south and interlopers I think, maybe Forth valley Orienteers too. http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/

Did a google search and middle distance area barr wood map is here http://odean-deano.blogspot.com/2007/05/fvo-evening-event-barr-wood.html

You can most probably find the classic area Devilla too - but i can't find it quickly. Are you guys planning to go to the British champs the weekend before at Culbin?? (near Inverness)should be a good event - scene of WOC 1976. If so i should hopefully see you there.
