Pressure Building in O-Max

Show Profile  Michael Posted: 29 November 2007, 2:55 PM
With four out of six O-Max events run in Wellington and the Hutt Valley, a single point separates the top two in both mens and womens categories.

Ross Morrison leads Bryn Davies and Lizzie Ingham leads Piret Klade. The worst two events are dropped from the simple place-based formula, so it now becomes a matter of improving on those worst placings.

O-Max is a series of sprint races in which butterfly loops allow at least four runners to start at once. But over ten years, innovative course designers have set loops within loops, any-order controls, optional controls, dummy controls, the shape often suggested by the city venues used. This weeks race had a control in the sea.

Tim Robertson has already cleaned up the schoolboy class, and Laura (just named in the interim JWOC squad) is sure to take the girls. Their father John is leading the vets. Next week's race is in the concrete jungle of Massey's Wellington campus and Wgtn High school; the final will be in the actual jungle at Thunderball Adventure Games.

News - as I see it should have a standard of writing and checking. I just wanted to bang something out.

Show Profile  addison Posted: 30 November 2007, 9:08 AM
Well sure a forum is a place for this sort of stuff, if there wasn't a news section. That was banged out Michael and of quality for news, you have posted it as a news article basically so why not post it under news?

News will only work if people are willing to post it. Everyone enjoys having it back and reading articles. Lets just all make a conscious effort to supply the news!

How about this rule of thumb Simon. News for news page. Public Forums for public forum page. Website adminstration winges for personal email.

Cool, see you tonight all things going to plan

Show Profile  Michael Posted: 6 December 2007, 9:06 AM
Ross and Lizzie won last night, but Bryn could still equal, and Piret could conceivably pass, at next week's final. Further down is a tight battle between Andrew Thompson and Stu Barr.

The final is in the jungle of Thunderball Adventure Games, as used for the Superseries round in April. See Routegadget, but don't expect all the tires and drums to be in their former positions:-))

Show Profile  Michael Posted: 13 December 2007, 1:44 PM
After split loops in the jungle maze and the rubber dunes, and a common loop outside the paintball area, Piret was 30m behind Lizzie going into the steel boulder field. Within sight of the finish runners had to visit the 6 controls (easily seen but positions not marked on the map) and punch in the square according to the control code. So it was possible to catch, but Lizzie was cleanest, and took the womens title.

And Bryn was AHEAD of Ross at the same stage, and beat him by all of two seconds. But Ross won the series because of an interesting circumstance. Gosh I'm hungry, back later...
